One of your first tasks would be to drive development of the long-term strategy for Scientific Computing. About the deparment Scientific Computing is responsible for developing and operating specialised computer systems supporting Novo Nordisk’s drug discovery research across our sites in Denmark, China and the US. Today the department has 15 employees located in Måløv. The department is expected to grow in the coming years. The Global Research Unit specialises in the discovery of biological medicines for the treatment of type 1 and 2 diabetes. We also discover and develop new innovative biopharmaceuticals for haemophilia and growth disorders. Furthermore, we conduct stem cell and beta cell regeneration research and other early-stage investigations aimed at finding a cure for diabetes, as well as exploring novel treatments for obesity and long-term, micro-vascular complications of diabetes. The Global Research Unit consists of app. 1500 highly qualified Scientists, PhDs/PostDocs and Lab Technicians and we conduct our world class research from sites based in the Greater Copenhagen area, Beijing and Seattle. The job In short your job is to develop and execute the Global Research IT strategy and lead the scientific computing organisation. Your goal is to provide access for Novo Nordisk Global research to state of the art research informatics solutions related to biopharmaceutical drug discovery within the areas of laboratory automation, systems biology and data management. You will head the Scientific Computing Management Team and set direction for the area in order to ensure ongoing development and best-in-class capabilities within laboratory automation, bioinformatics and scientific IT applications. A vital part of your job will be to ensure alignment with the stakeholders across the global research organisation and IT governance boards and committees. You will report to the Corporate Vice President of Discovery Biology and Technology and be part of the management team within this CVP area. Qualifications You have a university degree at minimum masters level within natural science. Your previous career covers +10 years experience within computer science as well as management experience providing you with in-depth understanding of biopharmaceutical drug discovery – including design and implementation of research informatics tools and systems. Your background enables you to assess the technical aspects of IT applications and systems, and you have worked with transformation of data into knowledge e.g. within bioinformatics, biologics registration, data capture, data harmonisation and globalisation of data. You have a proven track record of driving strategy development and change processes, and you are known as an inspiring and motivating people manager that thrive on helping people to be their best. To succeed, it is also vital that you are excellent within stakeholder management, and that you have the necessary toolbox of cross-cultural understanding and strong communication skills to build fruitful relations across 3 continents and numerous teams and departments.
