Associate/Assistant Professor in Microwave Remote Sensing

The Microwaves and Remote Sensing section of the National Space Institute (DTU Space) covers development and utilization of space- and airborne microwave radiometers and radars for demonstration of new concepts and for acquisition of data through campaigns, as well as development of advanced methods and new techniques for processing and utilization of data from such sensors. The Microwaves and Remote Sensing section is internationally recognized in these areas and the research is carried out in close collaboration with partners from national and international academia and industry. In order to develop our research and teaching activities we seek a highly qualified person to join the faculty at assistant or associate professor level. Responsibilities and tasks The assistant or associate professor should preferably have a sensor system background, and will have prime responsibilities in research and in research-based teaching within the research area of microwave remote sensing methods and applications. This covers advanced methods for utilization of data from SAR, e.g. interferometric SAR and polarimetric SAR, and/or microwave radiometers, e,g, polarimetric radiometers and interferometric radiometers. Teaching will include regular courses at BSc and MSc levels in microwave remote sensing techniques and applications, as well as supervision of student project including thesis projects. The position also holds responsibility for extending cooperation with external partners by actively pursuing national and international opportunities for joint projects and their funding. In case of an associate professor position, there will be responsibility also for PhD and Postdoc supervision, for research project management, and for academic department work. In case of an assistant professor position there will be responsibility also to complete DTU’s education in university teaching (UDTU). Qualifications Candidates for an •Assistant Professorship must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent) •Associate Professorship must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent) as well as academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holding an Assistant Professorship and should document didactic/pedagogic training. Applicants must possess and document strong qualifications in research demonstrated through publications and citations in international scientific journals, and through successful collaborations and projects. Applicants for an associate professor position must document their interest, qualifications, and significant experience in research-based university teaching, while applicants for an assistant professor position must document their interest, qualifications, and possible experience. All applicants must document a vision for their contribution to future research and teaching in microwave remote sensing techniques and applications. Applicants must be ready to actively and constructively engage in collaborations with colleagues in our group, with other DTU groups and departments, and with external partners. Applicants do not need to master the Danish language but it would be preferable if they are ready to pursue the learning in order to teach in Danish within some years.
