Senior Research Scientist in Environmental Radioactivity

A position as senior research scientist in environmental radioactivity is available in the Radioecology Division at the Center for Nuclear Technologies, DTU Nutech, at DTU Risø Campus close to Roskilde. About 14 employees work in the Division on research, public-sector consultancy and innovation covering marine and terrestrial radioecology, application and development of radioanalytical methods and assessment of risk from environmental radioactivity. Responsibilities and tasks The work will cover the following tasks •development and application of automated techniques for analysis of stable and radioactive elements in environmental samples •participation in radioecological projects supported by national and international organizations on the basis of Division priorities and own interests •work on quality control systems •publication of scientific results in international journals and research-based public sector consultancy •obtaining research grants and coordinating new projects Qualifications Applicants should have a PhD in chemistry and several years of scientist or postdoc experience within one or more of the following •Inorganic chemical analysis •Radiochemical analysis •Automated analysis of radionuclides •Nuclear analytical techniques and applications •ICP mass spectrometry Applicants should be talented and have experience and initiative. Experience in automated chemical analyses will be an advantage. Assessment In the assessment of the candidates consideration will be given to: •scientific production and research potential at international level •innovative skills and the ability to generate new ideas •the ability to communicate at all levels such as the provision of scientific advice to public sector authorities •the ability to promote and utilize research results •an all-round experience basis, preferably including international experience •the ability to contribute to development of the department’s internal and external cooperation We offer We offer an interesting and challenging job in an international environment with state-of-the-art facilities focusing on research, public-sector consultancy and innovation. Salary and terms of employment The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union.
