Carlsberg A/S is looking for a Laboratory Technician to carry out and support the research initiatives on barley at the Carlsberg Laboratory with focus on obtaining new barley lines with improved tolerance to abiotic stress and identification of the molecular processes involved. As Laboratory Technician you will be involved with and/or responsible for: •Carry out and support current and new research projects within abiotic stress responses in barley. •Laboratory supervision of MSc and PhD students working in the research team •Preparation of standard liquid/solid media and buffers •Purchasing of laboratory materials •Maintenance of laboratory equipment and enforcing a tidy laboratory The candidate must be fluent in English. The successful candidate will join a dynamic and international research environment and contribute to research projects combining basic and applied aspects of abiotic stress responses in barley. You will be part of a world leading global company that provides an experienced international team and excellent research and working facilities spanning from barley genomics to the physiology of the plant in the field. Personal Qualifications: •An education as laboratory technician, BSc or MSc with experience from working with the molecular biology or biochemistry of plants. Some years of experience from working in a research environment would be an additional desired qualification. •Knowledge and experience within the biochemistry and molecular biology of plants e.g. within RNA and DNA isolation, PCR, plasmid preparations, cloning, heterologous expression, biochemical assays, GC- or LC-MS analyses, or enzyme isolation are expected/desired •Basic computer skills, e.g. with the Office workpackage are required •Confident to work in a team but also individually and independently and to take the full ownership of your tasks •Well organized, efficient, and highly self-motivated with good communication skils and an ability to contribute to the create a good social atmosphere at your work place Duration It is a full time two-year postion with possibility for an extension.
