Research Scientist in Ecodesign Management and Product Development

Applications are invited for a position as Research Scientist, to carry out research into ecodesign management and product development, within the Department of Mechanical Engineering, at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). Interest and experience within ecodesign management and product development methodology is required for the successful performance in this post. The post is to be established in the Section of Engineering Design and Product Development at the Department of Mechanical Engineering. The start date for the post is 1st December 2015. Responsibililties and tasks The successful candidate will work on projects in the areas of ecodesign management and product development. The main responsibilities will be: •To advance the research of ecodesign management and product development in collaboration with section colleagues and external collaborators. •To support the current ongoing projects on the fields of sustainability, ecodesign and product development (such as the Green Fibre Bottle, UNEP Eco-Innovation manual and other funded projects). •To further establish the Section’s research path in the areas of ecodesign and eco-innovation. •To develop a personal research portfolio and contribute to the Section’s activities by obtaining and running funded projects. Idea generation, fund raising, research impact and innovation are key performance indicators for the position. Dissemination to the public and exchange of knowledge with society, including participation in the public debate is important. Guidance and supervision of Post-Docs and PhD students is expected. Contributing to the development of a good work atmosphere and a thriving environment is essential. Qualifications •Candidates must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent) in the field of ecodesign and product development, with a background in environmental engineering, industrial engineering, mechanical engineering or related areas. •Have extensive research experience (at least 10 years) within the field of ecodesign and product development, with a strong interface to industry (either as a researcher or as an employee). •Hold academic qualifications equivalent to as those obtained by post-doctoral employment for at least 2 years, developing projects with industry and academia, within the field of ecodesign management and product development. •Have an extensive publication record (high productivity in terms of journal and conference papers), within the field of ecodesign management and product development. •Have experience in supervision and co-supervision of bachelor, master and PhD students within the field of ecodesign management and product development. •Have the ambition to establish a research area in DTU related to the area of ecodesign management and product development. •Have self-motivation in scientific research and ability to work independently, to plan and carry out complicated tasks. •Have good communication skills in English, both written and spoken. Basic communication skills in Danish are appreciated.
