Copenhagen / Local / Finance-Accounting / Ref.: MO-076745 Maersk Oil Head Quarters in Copenhagen are looking for a Senior Economist to deliver high quality asset economics including quantitative description of the associated risks and uncertainties to support business investment, acquisition, disposal, and operational decisions. We Offer The employee in this position can develop specialist skills in major project economics and can thereby develop skills relevant for moving into Economics Manager Position. Specific training will be available to enable the incumbent to develop his / her career in a variety of directions. In the role you have the opportunity to support the decision making process by understanding and challenging the strategic fit of investment opportunities and their underlying assumptions. The Senior Economist will also lead economic frame sessions to identify key decision criteria, options, metrics and sensitivities as well as advise commercial, asset operations, development and exploration staff on how opportunities can be optimized for value. Key Responsibilities The primary areas of responsibility in this role will be to: • Ensure value of business opportunities (including risks and opportunities) is reflected in the economics analysis for: IPs, decision gates, Near Field Exploration projects, asset commercial and Acquisition and Divestment work. Construct project cash flow models, taking account of technical, contractual and commercial assumptions. • Build stand-alone and integrated economic models using Excel or Palantir-Cash, including portfolio modelling. • Lead Senior Economist for Tax-Royalty fiscal regimes in Maersk Oil. • Develop processes and procedures for global economics community (tool standardisation, Quality Assurance, Risk & Uncertainty Management, Information Management, On-boarding, Pricing). Who we are looking for The right candidate has an educational background in Finance and 5 years of experience in a similar position. In addition we are looking for the following qualifications: • Can quickly grasp a good understanding of country value drivers, fiscal regime and country Upstream Oil and Gas industry, particularly as applied in the DBU / UK / Norway / Brazil / USA. • Able to move freely between tax-royalty and PSC regimes, apply knowledge for new country entries involving integrated value chain of exploration and Maersk Group elements. • Theoretical understanding of economic evaluation / business analysis techniques. Understanding of key metrics and ways to present risk and uncertainty / what if scenarios, bid curves, return on investment/acquisition metrics for BD opportunities • Able to understand quickly the key aspects of relevant fiscal arrangements for A&D opportunities • Highly numerate, with ability to manipulate large volumes of data. Can quickly build high quality models in Excel and have SuperUser proficiency in PalantirCash, Palantir Plan and Palantir Financials. • Diligent, hard-working with great attention to detail and to producing accurate output. Can check his / her own work for obvious errors.
