The Electronic Foreign Exchange Team (e-FX) is the spear head of Nordea Markets when it comes to implementing new technologies and driving the business forward. As a result, the team is gaining more responsibilities and we’re therefore looking to expand with a new member to the team. The new team member will be responsible for developing several of our core systems in addition to working closely with business stakeholders. In the team we have both in-house developed applications and systems bought from vendors. The position we offer The competition with our peers in the FX industry is fierce and we are, or strive to be, the best in our area – globally. Therefore, we believe the challenges and tasks we offer within algorithmic pricing and execution are unique and very rewarding to work with. Your responsibility will be to maintain existing and develop new electronic trading components in the FX space in close cooperation with other team members and business stakeholders. The space we work in is driven by low latency and we measure delays in milliseconds and even microseconds. Therefore we have a lot of interesting challenges in doing optimization and tuning of our systems. You will work with sophisticated technologies that only a few other companies in Scandinavia utilize. We give team members freedom to investigate and pick the best tools and languages to solve the tasks at hand. As an example we have some components that have been running in Production for several years which are developed in Scala. As the team is situated on the trading floor, you will be working in a hectic atmosphere but also a very rewarding and exciting environment. We don’t expect you to know FX products or the theory behind them (although it’s a plus) so this position will also be a great opportunity for you to learn. We also focus a lot on personnel development and we will support you in achieving your career ambitions. The qualifications you need You have a Master’s degree (or Ph. D.) in natural sciences, finance, economy or similar or a candidate/master in IT and years of experience in software development of electronic cash FX products, preferably obtained from a similar position at another financial institution. While studying you were in the top tier. You are hardworking, committed and dedicated to always deliver high quality at speed. We expect you to be skilled in most of the following technologies and tools: - Core Java - JVM and tuning of it - Java GC - Concurrent and distributed systems - Maven and Gradle - Scala - Network protocols (e.g. TCP) and tools (e.g. lsof) - Server setup and performance optimization - Git - SQL - Scripting on Unix, Linux and Windows - Atlassian Jira, Stash, Bamboo You are able to work individually as well as contributing to a team. You strive to write well-written code which is easy to test, read and extend. Less is more. You have experience writing low-latency and/or high performance code.
