DTU Nanotech is a department at DTU, dedicated to conduct research, education and innovation within micro- and nanotechnology at the highest international level. At DTU Nanotech, we exploit sciences across the traditional boundaries of technology enabling innovative solutions for the benefit of society. The micro- and nanotechnology solutions are applied within the biomedical, life sciences, environment, energy, security, and sensing areas. To support the developments substantial efforts are focused on materials development, structuring, and characterisation. DTU Nanotech has approx. 230 staff members, and with 40 % international employees the department constitutes an international environment. Job description DTU Nanotech wishes to employ a senior researcher in the challenging field of fabrication of 3D carbon microelectrodes for applications in life science, tissue engineering and biosensing. The main tasks will be to explore and develop novel polymer microfabrication strategies to fabricate 3D polymer precursor structures followed by pyrolysis in inert atmosphere and to apply the electrically conductive 3D microstructures for real-time electrochemical monitoring of cell cultures. The work will be carried out in close collaboration with different research groups at DTU Nanotech and will furthermore be associated with the recently granted Center of Excellence IDUN. Responsibilities and tasks •Supervision of PhD students and postdocs •Management of research projects •Teaching in MSc level courses at DTU Nanotech •Application for funding of research activities •Collaboration with other research groups at DTU Nanotech Required qualifications The ideal candidate holds a PhD in micro- and nanoengineering and has several years of experience as a postdoc in 3D microfabrication with polymers and carbon materials. A strong background in cleanroom technologies and advanced characterization methods is an advantage. Experience in polymer microfabrication technologies such as hot embossing, spray coating or similar methods are also considered valuable assets. Furthermore, a strong interest in pyrolysis and bioelectrochemistry are required. We are looking for an independent researcher who works accurately and feels comfortable in a collaborative environment, and who is willing and qualified to take on a larger coordination role within fabrication of 3D carbon microelectrodes.
