Copenhagen Local/International Geoscience Ref.: MO-046736 Maersk Oil is offering a position as Senior / Lead geophysicist in the Exploration Team in DBU Subsurface Department in Copenhagen. he Department The Exploration Department is responsible for management and operational implementation of exploration work, from play analysis, lead and prospect maturation, to drilling of exploratory wells. Our technical work is focused on •Regional geological and geophysical studies, acreage and prospect maturation are carried out to identify basins and plays to support bidding in exploration bid rounds and farm-in and acquisition initiatives. •Identification and mapping of leads and prospects for exploration drilling opportunities, including work involving quantification of play & prospect risks, volumetric, and assessment of economic viability. •Planning and execution of exploration and appraisal drilling. As Senior / Lead geophysicist you will be working as explorationist. Work will include sedimentological and structural interpretations, basin and play analysis, prospect maturation, and exploration and appraisal well planning. Participation in technical networks and mentoring of younger staff will also be part of the functional responsibility. The Exploration Team comprise of 14 geoscientists and is supported by geosciences and engineering functions internally and petroleum engineers in business units . Who we are looking for As candidate for the position you have a minimum of 10 years is of oil industry experience with a strong background in exploration geology from the North Sea or related areas. •Solid technical skills in seismic interpretation using all relevant types of seismic QI data •Solid technical skills of inversion and rock physical tools •Understanding of seismic processing and acquisition. •Experience with North Sea geology and their depositional systems and production development scenarios or a broad experience from other equivalent areas. •Knowledge of probabilistic resource assessment methods and risking will be an advantage. Most technical work will be performed using Landmark, Petrel and ArcGIS software. The right candidate for the position is an enthusiastic and strong team player with good communication skills and ability to engage and motivate others both within and outside your team.
