We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Postdoc to join the Yeast Metabolic Engineering group at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Biosustainability (DTU Biosustain) at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). The group headed by Dr. Irina Borodina focuses on metabolic engineering of yeast cell factories for sustainable production of chemicals from renewable feedstocks. We develop genetic engineering tools, which facilitate iterative cycles of strain development, and work on general methodology for accelerated rational strain design, based on systems biology-level data and modelling. Responsibilities and tasks The successful candidate will: •study the influx/efflux of industrially relevant xenobiotics in yeast. The methods will include high-throughput screening using genome-scale yeast mutant libraries and characterization of specific transporters in Xenopus oocytes. Transporter engineering will be applied for optimizing yeast host towards bio-based production of selected chemicals. •publish her/his research results in international peer-reviewed journals and present at conferences and seminars. Patenting activities can also be expected. •contribute to teaching and to the internal collaboration at the Centre and external collaboration with international industrial and academic partners. Qualifications Candidates should have a PhD degree or equivalent.
