For one of our Animal Facilities we are seeking a highly engaged and dedicated Department Head with management experience and a solid background within laboratory animal science. About the department The job reports to Vice President Jan Lund Ottesen, and you will be part of the Laboratory Animal Science management team. You will be part of a team in a highly dynamic and challenging environment, where excellence is expected. The department (Animal Unit Ga) is organised within the Global Research Unit of Novo Nordisk A/S and located outside Copenhagen, Denmark. The area is responsible for housing, care and use of experimental animals. Animal Unit Ga is serving departments in Novo Nordisk R&D that are engaged in animal experiments with pigs, dogs and rabbits. The job You will be responsible for managing and developing a department of approximately 20 employees. As Department Head, you will be responsible for the budget, setting business targets, following up on deliverables, and reporting progress and status to appropriate governance bodies.It is expected that you have the insight, drive, commitment and communication skills to set the optimal boundaries for reaching highly ambitious targets within animal welfare, service to stakeholders and at the same time focusing on a sound working environment.You will be part of the management team and be involved in shaping and executing the future strategy of the area. Furthermore, you will be part of corporate and academic international research networks. Qualifications You hold a degree in Veterinary Medicine and have a strong expertise within laboratory animal science. Further, you have at least 5 years' hands-on work experience. Experience within the pharmaceutical industry or biotech is preferable, but not mandatory.You have leadership qualities and at least 2 years of documented management experience. You are a motivating, dynamic and engaging performance driver, flexible, open to new ideas, ambitious, able to lead through others and have strong communication and coaching skills.You have authority but are also good at collaborating in teams and able to accommodate and manage diversity.
