Introduction

The Microsoft Azure Customer Advisory Team (CAT) is looking for a Senior Program manager specializing in Cloud Security with motivated passion for customers, and the drive and commitment to help build the best Cloud platform on the planet. Our team works with our largest customers, as well as field leadership and account roles to drive the growth of Azure, and to take those experiences and influence the next generation of Azure.

This role will be focused on:

 

• Engaging with Microsoft’s most important customers to ensure solutions are designed, built, and deployed securely on Azure.
• Enabling customers to truly migrate to Azure securely, protecting, monitoring and governing their workloads in the cloud.
• Enable organizations to realize the true benefit of Azure IaaS and PaaS architectures for mission critical workloads and realize true Management and Security benefits of cloud based applications.
• Driving engineering relationships with customers to fully understand and learn from the customer experience of ‘end-to-end’ on the Azure platform.
• Providing architectural guidance for Azure solutions through interaction with technical audiences
• Enable migration of infrastructure from on premises, other cloud environments or 3^rd party data centers by providing architectural leadership, guidance and deep experience.
• Triaging and then helping Azure engineering understand the scenarios, challenges and needs where Azure must improve, directly from customer adoption experiences.

As organizations move Applications, Data and Intelligence and their Infrastructure to the cloud, the concepts of Intelligent Edge and Intelligent Cloud become key to their strategy. Application modernization is a journey to digitally transform business applications to make them future-ready. Azure is meeting our customers where they are. Some applications are ready to modernize; some may require minor changes in code; and still others may need a complete redesign to make them cloud-ready. Choosing the right migration approach for different applications in a portfolio can help businesses extract maximum value from cloud-enabled and innovative technologies.

Success in the Cloud era

To be successful in the Cloud era, enterprises must have visibility/metrics and controls on every component to pinpoint issues efficiently, optimize and scale effectively, while having the assurance the security, compliance and polices are in place to be successful. We are focused on enabling the best Management and Security architecture for our customers, focused on these areas:

Secure: While Azure is the trusted and secure platform, our customers have their own security settings and requirements they need to manage.  They need to be able to protect individual machines against threats and monitor the security posture of systems.

Protect: VMs and applications in the cloud need to be backed up and protected in the event of data loss. With disaster recovery from on-prem to the cloud, or from one cloud to another, businesses can avoid downtime and keep workloads up and running.

Monitor: Every operations manager and every developer needs to be able to see the health and performance of their workloads, infrastructure, and network. Seeing insights across all three together in a single dashboard can save time and resources in troubleshooting and preventing issues in the future.

Configure: For managing Azure and hybrid workloads at scale, automation and configuration capabilities help create patterns and runbooks to automate tasks, manage the configuration settings and track changes, and monitor and deploy missing updates. Organizations also want to use CLI such as PowerShell and Cloud Shell for command line scripting.

Govern: Many customers need a way to look across cloud resources to assess and enforce enterprise-wide standards and policy compliance for security and management. In addition, they need to manage and monitor costs for the cloud, not just in Azure but in other clouds too.

• Candidates will be expected to demonstrate experience and depth on designing, reviewing, and deploying Azure architectural solutions focused on Access Control, Architecture, Data Protection, Monitoring, Resource Security and Response.

Want to Influence the roadmap of Azure?

The team's mission is also to drive growth and improvement in the Azure platform by bringing your deep technical experiences with customers directly into the engineering product teams, helping to ensure Azure is well aligned with the most compelling workloads and scenarios from real customers. As a Senior Program Manager in the Azure CAT team your primary responsibility is to work with a select set of customers to guide hand-picked Initiatives through to delivery. We learn from these experiences, triage the areas we need to understand more, and share this directly with Azure stakeholders to help them understand how to improve the platform. Your voice would be an important contribution to these efforts, sharing your experiences to shape the future of Microsoft’s Intelligent Cloud.

 

The Senior Program Manager role is a technical, customer facing role that is accountable for the end-to-end delivery of these Initiatives on behalf of Microsoft. This role represents a strong opportunity to have direct impact on both our Intelligent Cloud and Intelligent Edge products & strategy, and our customer's success. The ideal candidate will have hands on experience with Azure, experience in customer facing roles, success leading technical and economic value discussions with senior customer executives, and the ability to think and operate broadly, driving key decisions and implementation, and identifying and translating abstract customer scenarios and workloads into concrete product refinements.

 

This role will be based in EMEA but have a Global focus. Moderate travel will be required, up to ~ 50%.
