Senior Analyst supporting the long term gas portfolio

Are you an experienced analyst who is motivated by providing expert advice to decision makers at management and senior management level? Join DONG Energy and become Analyst or Senior Analyst in Gas Origination which is responsible for the long-term gas portfolio of the group, including all sourcing of gas from our E&P business. You will be part of an experienced team involved in strategy, planning and negotiations with counterparts concerning various agreements. The department is part of Customers & Markets, which has 1,600 employees and is one of four business units in DONG Energy. We handle the production from our wind farms and oil and gas fields for the energy exchanges and customers in Northern Europe, and we distribute electricity and natural gas to businesses and private customers in Denmark. You will be based at our office in Gentofte in the beginning; however, we will move to Virum in January 2015. Both locations are in the Greater Copenhagen area. You should expect some travelling in relation to your work. Areas of responsibility As Senior Analyst, your primary task will be to provide recommendations on the basis of a solid understanding and analysis of European energy markets, its stakeholders and economics. You will act as a sparring partner with other key stakeholders in the organisation, including the finance and valuation department in order to provide best possible support and insights into the commercial negotiations. You will also assist in the preparation and participation of commercial negotiations based on detailed analysis of energy markets, financial analysis, data analysis, price calculations and present these to stakeholders at different levels of the organisation. Furthermore, your key duties will be to: •thoroughly monitor and understand the market development in energy commodities, primarily gas •provide economic insights and support in relation to economic analysis, risk assessment and risk mitigation •analyse and keep track of commercial data on existing contracts •identify commercial and strategic opportunities to existing as well as new activities. Your profile You have an education in economics, business or finance at master or Ph.D. Level. Ideally, you have solid experience with research, market analysis, or valuation. As we operate in an international environment, it is essential that you speak and write English fluently. Moreover, you will have excellent communication skills, enabling you to negotiate with your business partners both orally and in writing. In addition, you have unique analytical skills, both when it comes to attention to detail and the ability to grasp the overall commercial interest. As the atmosphere may be hectic at times, it is essential that you have the capacity to handle short deadlines without compromising quality. You have a results-orientated approach to your work paired with substantial personal drive, enabling you to create results of the highest quality.
