- Research & Development - Denmark - Måløv The department for Diabetes Complications Biology and Pharmacology at Novo Nordisk (Måløv) is looking for a skilled and motivated PostDoc in a collaborative project with the Steno Diabetes Center within diabetes complications, in particular diabetic nephropathy. About the department The department for Diabetes Complications Biology and Pharmacology is focused on early as well as translational research within diabetes complications (diabetic nephropathy and diabetic retinopathy in particular). The department consists of approximately 15-20 scientist and the same number of technicians as well as approximately 8-10 master students, PhD students and PostDocs. We have a good, collaborative atmosphere and are focused on generating quality data for the benefit of our research projects. The job The PostDoc project is entitled: “Phenotyping diabetic nephropathy patients to identify biomarkers characterising progressors vs. non-progressors” and is part of a larger research consortium focused on diabetic nephropathy called “PROTON” (PeRsOnalising Treatment Of diabetic Nephropathy). The consortium is led by Prof. Peter Rossing at the Steno Diabetes Center, Denmark. The PROTON consortium, including some of the world’s leading experts within this field from Finland, Denmark, The Netherlands and US, was recently funded by the Novo Nordisk Foundation for 6 years, and offers a highly innovative approach of using multidimensional ‘omics’ to identify novel proteins, metabolites and pathways, indicative of the putative mechanisms underlying the early renal decline. The consortium has access to unique collections of human blood and urine samples from patients +/- progressive DN and large patient cohorts that will be deeply phenotyped. Novo Nordisk A/S department for Diabetes Complications Biology and Pharmacology (NN DCBP) is the industry partner for a PostDdoc position working with detailed phenotyping (FACS and transcriptomics of fresh blood and urine samples) of DN progressors vs. non-progressors. This will be part of a new prospective study of 200 T1D subjects who will be extensively phenotyped. The PostDoc will interact closely with Peter Rossing’s group at Steno Diabetes Center Gentofte, Denmark, where the samples will be collected. Qualification The ideal candidate for this two year PostDoc position has a relevant scientific background, experience and interest within this research field. The PostDoc will be working primarily at the department for Diabetes Complications Biology and Pharmacology at Novo Nordisk A/S in Måløv but with close collaboration with Steno Diabetes Center/Peter Rossing and his team. The PostDoc will be employed by Novo Nordisk A/S and support to relocation will be offered. The PostDoc will work with flow cytometric analysis of human samples from the project and experience with multicolor flow cytometry is an advantage for the position. The applicant must have obtained a PhD degree or other similar qualification within 8 years of the application deadline (time spend on maternity leave, longer illness or military service may be deducted from this period of time). The applicant is expected to have a proven track record of excellent, original contributions within the field of diabetes research. The successful candidate will be selected based on experience and potential as well as the approach to answering the problems presented in the project description and an interview.
