Copenhagen Business School invites applications for a position at the Full Professor level in Organizational Philosophy at Department of Management, Politics and Philosophy (MPP).

Profile of MPP
In announcing the professorship in Organizational Philosophy, the department wishes to strengthen its research and teaching pertaining to how organizational problems are analysed philosophically and how the conceptual and theoretical basis of such analysis is further developed. MPP has a strong international reputation in these areas of research as well as strong international research network, and is highly engaged in undergraduate, graduate and executive education in these fields.

MPP is organised into four research groups: politics; business history; philosophy; and management. We are a uniquely multi-disciplinary research department with the ambition to make our research in management and organization studies as well as adjacent fields known to students, companies, public institutions, and research colleagues as innovative, creative and critical/reflexive. A multi-disciplinary dialogue that challenges and combines academic disciplines and perspectives ties research at the department together. The department is committed to research-based education and to bring this understanding into play in society in a constructive, engaged, and valuable manner. A key focus of MPP is to publish its research with highly ranked academic journals and book publishers across a broad spectrum of areas, reflecting the department’s multidisciplinary set-up. Across the department, there is a keen interest in developing new forms of teaching and learning environments in collaboration with CBS faculty, international researchers, students and partner organizations.

Profile of position
The professor will be affiliated to our Management Philosophy Group. The research group is focused on areas such as organizational philosophy, critical management studies, sustainable entrepreneurship, critical finance studies, leadership, and modern work life.

Applicants must document substantive knowledge of organisational philosophy and broad critical management studies. The successful applicant is expected to undertake research and teaching on the boundaries between management, organisation, philosophy and society. The philosophical and social diagnosis of the conditions for management, organization, and business in society constitute a research area of particular importance and resonates with the Department’s profile characterized by bringing management studies into interdisciplinary crossings with social sciences and the humanities.

Successful applicants must have an international profile, a strong record of research publications, and broad teaching experience. They must be capable of providing dynamic leadership in the development of research and teaching, in securing external research funding, and in establishing strong ties with external public and private stake holders.

To fulfill the research requirements of the position, the applicant chosen is expected to be physically present on a regular basis and actively participate in the teaching and research activities of the Department as well as maintaining and establishing broad links across CBS.

Professors are expected to take active part in academic leadership responsibilities for the department and its contribution to CBS; for building a productive and constructive environment and for actively promote research integrity in accordance with the Danish Code of Conduct for Research Integrity (http://ufm.dk/publikationer/2014/the-danish-code-of-conduct-for-research-integrity).

Responsibilities

• Research at high international standard, including responsibility for publishing, scientific communication and research-based teaching.
• Communication of knowledge to society, including participation in public debate, sustaining and developing CBS’s role and function for business and society as a whole (with special focus on relevant stakeholders).
• Research will include responsibility for the academic development of the discipline.
• Research management, initiation and management of research projects, supervision of PhD students, international research co-operation, reviewing academic journals.
• Research, including application of funds for financing research activities and the development of the institution.
• Research education and further training of researchers, pedagogical consulting and supervision of assistant professors and assessment committee work.
• Teaching and associated examination in CBS programs, including Executive Education.
• Engagement in development of new, research-based teaching programs.
• Actively promote CBS’s academic reputation.
• Contribute to administrative responsibilities of the Department and to CBS-wide tasks.

Qualifications
The successful applicant must have a strong record of original research publications at an international level as well as substantial teaching experience in (some of) the areas outlined above. In addition emphasis will be given to the applicants’ ability to assume teaching/study program coordination.

Applicants must be able to document relevant, significant, original, and current research at an international level in the field of organizational philosophy, which may include critical management studies and organization studies.

The applicants must have professional proficiency in English (written and spoken). Appointment and salary will be in accordance with the Ministry of Finance’s agreement with the Central Academic association plus a negotiated allowance.

Recruitment procedure
The Recruitment Committee will shortlist minimum two applicants; when possible five or more applicants will be shortlisted. The shortlisted applicants will be assessed by the Assessment Committee. All applicants will be notified of their status in the recruitment process shortly after the application deadline.

The applicants selected for assessment will be notified about the composition of the Assessment Committee and later in the process about the result of the assessment.

Once the recruitment process is completed each applicant will be notified of the outcome of their application.
