The Knudsen laboratory at the Section for Cell Biology and Physiology, at the Department of Biology, University of Copenhagen is looking for a postdoctoral researcher. The position is for two years including a probation period.
The Knudsen Lab is seeking a highly motivated and talented person to investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying the development of type 2 diabetes. The successful applicant will play a key role in a research project aimed at understanding the regulation of glucagon secretion in diabetes. Our lab use confocal time-lapse imaging combined with functional studies in mouse and human islets, to understand the mechanisms underlying dysregulation of islet hormone secretion in diabetes. We combine these experiments with in vivo phenotyping of genetically modified mouse models to understand how whole-body phenotypes are altered by changes in islet hormone secretion.
The common focal point of the Section for Cell Biology and Physiology is to understand mechanisms underlying disease development and adaptations to environmental stimuli. There are 12 groups in the section focusing on topics ranging from cancer biology to metabolic disease, exercise and adaptations to extreme environments. This provides a stimulating scientific environment with multiple possibilities for collaboration and exploration of disease biology.

Eligibility
A relevant PhD in natural or biomedical sciences is required in addition to:
- Experience in molecular biology and biochemistry.
- Experience with confocal microscopy
- Research background in diabetes, metabolism or a similar field.
- A strong track record with at least one publication in a prominent international peer reviewed journal
- Excellent communication skills both oral and written (English)
