Then keep reading. 2D and 3D steel design for multidisciplinary projects As a CAD Technician/Technical Designer you will be responsible for design, layout and modelling of steel structures in 2D and 3D CAD systems. In our daily work we use MicroStation, PDS, PDMS and SmartPlant. Further, a key responsibility will be to ensure that your project CAD drawings/designs are coordinated between the different department disciplines. In a smaller, yet substantial part of the position, you will perform supervision at the contractor, e.g. material supervision. Most of your tasks will be carried out in cooperation with multidisciplinary project teams. On a daily basis you will have the opportunity to work with tasks such as: Preparation of structural detail design CAD 3D models of structural steel, 3D modelling and extraction of drawings, and preparing reports from 3D models 2D drafting of several types of drawings MTOs for structures Weight reporting for all disciplines Discipline check and interdisciplinary check of drawings and 3D models In the position you will also occasionally travel to offshore installations in the North Sea and participate in onshore visits to refineries typically in connection with project start-up. To be a success in this position, we also imagine that you have: An education as Technical Assistant/designer or Production Technology and possibly a skilled education e.g. smith 5 years of experience from a similar job Experience from the Oil and Gas industry Knowledge of Microstation 2D and 3D Good English skills, both written and oral Your new colleagues We assist our clients through all project phases from concept development to detailed design and with all levels of structural engineering expertise from basic structural design to large scale topsides projects. The “Topsides Structures” department consists of 30 employees in four teams: three Topside teams and a CAD team. Our department is home to an experienced workforce, many of whom have 12-13 years of experience in the industry. The department uses a mix of matrix organisation and project organisation and has an energetic and informal work environment. You will be reporting to the team leader of the CAD team.
