Vattenfall is one of Europe`s largest electricity generators and producers of heat. We operate in Sweden, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands and the UK. Our strategy is to reduce emissions from power generation following a road  map to achieve climate neutrality by 2050. To meet our goals we aim at a significant increase of our portfolio of offshore wind farms and to support the growth we will strengthen our inhouse offshore wind foundation design capacity.

Do you want to shape the future?

For our Civil and Structural Engineering department in Business Unit Offshore Wind, we are looking for a 3D CAD Designer to prepare 3D models of foundations for our portfolio of offshore wind farms and to document final design in 2D. You will be working together with our foundation design and manufacturing teams and your first assignment will be to finalize and implement a new strategy for CAD design for foundations. Our ambition is to build inhouse competence and capacity which enables us to model our foundations from the early concept stage across detailed design to manufacturing and to use the 3D models to support effective O&M operations using BIM technology.

You will be leading this development and play a key role in building a team around 3D CAD in Vattenfall’s Engineering division. The final decision on which software packages to use has not yet been taken and your input to the decision will be important.

The Civil and Structural Engineering department is the competence centre for all issues  related to offshore wind foundations, from FEED design and detailed design to manufacturing, O&M and decommissioning.

Your job
As 3D CAD Designer you be part of the process of creating industry leading designs for Vattenfall’s offshore wind foundations and thus to maintain our strong competitive position.

Your main responsibilities include:  
• Defining and implementing procedures for CAD design which supports our high ambitions
• Build complex 3D models of our foundations in an interactive cooperation with our design and manufacturing specialists
• Administration of the models and handle interfaces to internal and external stakeholders
• Prepare and maintain as-built documentation and 2D drawings of the final design
• Deliver and maintain 2D design drawings from tender to AFC design
• Give input to CAD team development and future CAD strategy

Your profile:
You have an educational background as CAD designer, engineer or architect with a good understanding of structural design and several years of experience from a similar position. You have an innovative mind-set and can see yourself working in an environment where we value entrepreneurship, the pragmatic approach and helpfulness in our daily work. You can work self-dependent while sharing and seeking knowledge in the team. You show initiative and have a flexible approach to your work. You possess good interpersonal skills and can communicate technical messages on a clear and constructive way both internally and to external partners. The following specific qualifications are important for this position:
• CAD designer, engineer or architect
• More than 5 years of experience with 3D CAD and preferably experience with BIM and/or RDSPP
• Knowledge and overview of 3D CAD software and detailed knowledge of 1-2 software packages
• Good understanding of structural design
• Proficiency in English

Location:
