Tenure Track Assistant or Associate Professorship in Social Psychology

The Department of Psychology, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Copenhagen (Denmark), plans to expand faculty staff by offering a position as a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor or an Associate Professor. The position is available from 1 August 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter. The Assistant Professor position is offered as a tenure-track Assistant Professorship.

The hired candidate will join a group of faculty members in Social Psychology and related fields, and will be part of and contribute to this research area at the Department. Exceptional candidates in research and teaching with an international network and a strong potential for collaborations at the Department- and University-level are encouraged to apply. We welcome applicants with a strong background in research methods—we especially encourage applicants with a background in mixed and qualitative methods to apply, but also welcome applicants with a background in quantitative methods.

The Department of Psychology covers a broad range of disciplines including Clinical Psychology, Cognitive and Neuropsychology, Developmental Psychology, Educational Psychology, Personality Psychology, Psychology of the Humanities, Social Psychology, and Work- and Organizational psychology. The department has excellent facilities for various research approaches. Our staff comprises about 35 faculty, 10 postdocs and 50 PhD students. About 240 students graduate in the five-year Master’s program in psychology per year. Next to psychology, the Faculty of Social Sciences includes the Departments of Anthropology, Economics, Political Science and Sociology, as well as several active research centers that bring together researchers across disciplines.

Qualifications

Tenure-Track Assistant Professor

• To be qualified for the position the applicant must have a PhD in Psychology or equivalent academic qualifications with a focus in Social Psychology or related fields.

Associate Professor

• To be qualified for the position the applicant must have research qualifications in Social Psychology or related fields at the level that can be achieved by satisfactorily completing a period of employment at the level of assistant professor or equivalent.

• Strong teaching qualifications in Social Psychology or related fields.

An assistant professorship is a further-education post. Supervision as well as pedagogical training is provided. The position(s) will be covered by the tenure track programme at the University of Copenhagen. The programme offers tenure-track candidates a contract of six years that can result in a tenured associate professorship. Associate Professor

• Research and teaching management
• Project management and external fundraising

Conditions of employment

Tenure- Track Assistant Professor
Terms of employment will be in accordance with the agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC). The annual salary as Assistant Professor is within the range DKR 405,000 – 427,000 (EUR 54,300 – 57,200 app.). In addition to the salary paid directly, the University will also pay a monthly contribution to the pension fund corresponding to 17.1 % of the salary. Negotiation for additional supplements will be possible. A special tax scheme is offered to researchers recruited from abroad, see http://ism.ku.dk/onarrival/taxes/

Associate Professor
