About the department The department, Diabetes Cultivation Development, is anchored in CMC Supply in Research & Development. The department is responsible for microbial cultivation and initial recovery process development for the entire diabetes development portfolio at Novo Nordisk. Moreover, we produce cell banks for clinical trials and marketed products under GMP. The department’s facilities include a development laboratory, a cultivation mini pilot and a GMP facility. The department consists of 2 teams and you will be Team Leader in the team responsible for cultivation process development. The job is located in Bagsværd, Denmark. The job You will be team leader in the diabetes cultivation team that focuses on developing microbial cultivation and initial recovery processes at laboratory scale. Also, the team is responsible for process transfer and scale up to pilot and production facilities. You will be part of a new management team and take part in and contribute to building a new department. Your primary responsibility is to ensure team deliverables and support, coach and challenge 2 specialists, 5 academics, 9 technicians. You have a central role in the team´s collaboration with many stakeholders e.g. research units in Denmark and China, analytical departments, product supply and the different API projects. We expect you to drive the planning and prioritization between projects in close collaboration with the team and stakeholders. Moreover you ensure to improve productivity of the team at the same time. With your solid technical background in fermentation or cultivation, you set direction for the process development in the team ensuring the timely support of the projects. Qualifications You hold a PhD or master degree as chemical engineer, pharmacist, cand.scient or similar. You have a solid background from a pharmaceutical/life science R&D or manufacturing organization. You possess solid knowledge of cultivation/fermentation and initial recovery processes and have a good understanding of the scalability challenges when transferring processes to pilot or production facilities. You have several years of management experience and act as competent sparring partner to your team - coaching and empowering employees to deliver excellent scientific results and to take responsibility for their own professional and personal development. You lead and embrace changes and exhibit a structured and convincing approach to transitioning people and organizations from current to desired state. In addition to this, you are able to spur enthusiasm and energy around you, and you possess strong networking and interpersonal skills.
