The Danish Hydrocarbon Research and Technology Centre (Centre for Oil and Gas – DTU), Technical University of Denmark (DTU), invites applicants for a Research Assistant position in building and potentially optimizing geomodels for a field in the Danish North Sea Chalk Group. DHRTC (also called Centre for Oil and Gas – DTU) is established by the Danish Underground Consortium and DTU. The centre has received a starting grant of DKK 1 billion for a 10-year period and relies on close interaction between Academia and industry. As part of the National Strategy on Oil and Gas, the research centre is an ambitious, targeted effort to enable increased recovery of oil and gas from the Danish North Sea. The goal will be achieved by cooperation with the industry and other research institutions to further progress knowledge and solutions with application potential, and by contributing to research-based teaching programs. A clear objective of the DHRTC is to identify and create confidence in ideas that can radically improve recovery from the Danish North Sea. It is believed that such ideas are typically cross-disciplinary in nature and that the ideas are typically created in a dialogue where insight in existing fields and technologies meets knowledge of new technologies. The Centre is now seeking a Research Assistant who has the ambition and expertise to contribute to the Centre. Responsibilities and tasks The purpose of the project is to build and setup static geo-models with focus on integrating result from other projects within the reservoir characterization group. Up-scaled versions of the models will serve as the base for running dynamic models. There will be a strong focus on optimizing the implementation of fractures and of faults in the model. Qualifications Candidates should have a M.Sc. degree or equivalent. Further qualifications: The successful candidate has demonstrated experience in building geomodels, use of geomodeling software packages, and integration of seismic and well data. Good knowledge of fracture modelling is highly advantageous as well as an understanding of fluid flow within petroleum systems. As the project is expected to incorporate a wide range of data, additional experience not mentioned here may be regarded advantageous.
