Software Director

Energetic, enduring and involving leader

Universal Robots are still experiencing massive growth, which imposes even greater demands on management and management skills at all levels. Therefore, it has been decided to establish a new position reporting directly to the VP R&D. With four SW managers in direct reference you will work in the framework of the R&D department.

Drive software development processes across departments and locations

You will be responsible for leading the SW department through four managers having approx. 20 employees in reference each. Additionally, you have the responsibility of running Universal Robots’ software development process across departments and locations, as well as define the future software development strategy that ensures predictability and scale-sustainability in architecture and processes. Furthermore, you will be responsible for providing an overview of overall capacity and project implementation in Odense, as well as defining software testing strategy.

Your primary responsibilities are:

• Universal Robots’ Software development process across sites

• Our software development strategy – to secure predictability and scalability in architecture and processes

• Implementation of processes and strategies in an agile environment

• Overall software capacity and project execution

• Metrics & KPI definition and reporting

• Resourcing of innovation projects

• Project management in coordination with PMO

• Leading a large engineering team to drive execution of our roadmap

• Various reporting

• Budget and budget follow up

To succeed in this position, you must show in-depth understanding of working with scrum on a Universal Robots modified method. It is essential that you meet the organization wherever they are, and define the KPI for the SW development process, thus creating better predictability. You have a clear attitude to releases and provide insights of the "group" and their skills, in order to get the necessary overview.

Many years of management experience from complex software development

You are expected to have an educational background in SW development and engineering e.g. Datalog or SW engineer, and more than 15 years of software development experience with a strong track record of leadership in technology strategy and product delivery. In addition, you have more than 10 years of proven experience in software development and management of major engineering teams. As a manager, you are accustomed to leading through leaders, and show you have achieved a good technical depth that enables you to go into technical architecture and design whenever necessary to solve a problem. Setting a direction and developing SW strategies is not unfamiliar to you, therefore you have strong track record in delivering and executing SW development using agile continuous implementation processes. Your experience enables you to build leadership talent pipeline through coaching and mentoring and you are used to working on continuous improvement and involvement in team DNA. All in all, you understand the value of being a role model.

There is no doubt that you are result-oriented and focused on success/KPI achievement. As a leader, you make room, listen and step into character when necessary.
