The 'Drug delivery and Sensor' section at DTU Health Tech wishes to employ a researcher within the framework of the highly interdisciplinary Center of Excellence - IDUN.

The successful candidate will play a leading role in the Surface Enhanced Raman Scattering (SERS) activities in the section, interacting with several section members working in different disciplines, such as optics, biochemistry, biology, microfluidics, pharmacology and polymer science. The position as a researcher is a permanent entry-level position.

The position is on the simulation, fabrication and characterization of nanopillar SERS substrates - realised in materials such as polymers and silicon. New applications within counterfeiting and diagnostics will be explored. Also, alternative enhancement possibilities of the SERS substrates should be studied.

Responsibilities and tasks

You will be responsible for our SERS substrate development and optimisation and will interact with several PhD students working in related fields. You will be responsible for securing a high quality in our development of new nanopillar SERS substrates and for continuously pushing the limit for what is possible. You will be responsible for teaching activities at our summer schools and for developing health tech related curriculum for new courses at our department.

Qualifications

Candidates must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent).

We seek a person who is in line with our IDUN values (http://www.idun.dtu.dk) and who is highly self-motivated and with a great flair for guiding students. Preferably you have a PhD degree in micro and nanofabrication, and are experienced in both SERS and nanoplasmonics. A strong background in cleanroom technologies and advanced optical measurement techniques is essential. Rich experience in maskless reactive ion etching is a must. Deep knowledge in design and simulation of complex nanoplasmonic systems is necessary. http://www.idun.dtu.dk

Experience with thermoplasmonics is a plus. You enjoy the interaction with team members, collaborators and students and you are a good communicator. You have experience in writing research proposals.

Salary and terms of employment

The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.

The position as a researcher is a permanent entry-level position. After a maximum of 4 years, a researcher can be promoted to a senior researcher position after assessment.
