Vestas are looking for just the right engineer in the Powertrain Department to design lubrication systems for gearboxes. If you are curious of nature, able to coordinate projects across regions, structured and driven, then you might be the engineer we are looking for!

Vestas Power Solutions (VPS) is responsible for developing, verifying and industrializing wind turbines and related service products. It is here that we lay Vestas' technical- and technological foundation for staying the Global Leader in wind energy by continuously reducing Cost of Energy.

The Powertrain department in VPS currently consists of around 50 highly skilled employees situated in Denmark, Germany, US and China. The department is accountable for the powertrain system converting the mechanical energy from the wind turbine rotor into electrical energy. The system consists of main components such as the main gearbox, the generator and the main shaft bearings, and of the auxiliary components; mechanical brake, couplings, gear stay and lubrication system.

We have an immediate opening for a mechanical engineer specializing in the development and product maintenance of lubrication systems for wind turbine powertrains. Activities will involve all facets of product development; from specification of concept and requirements to final validation in the field, but with many of activities in between anchored at external partners such as consultancy networks and/ or suppliers.
The later aspect requires a candidate with a combination of both strong technical competences and a commercial mindset, and not least with a distinct ability to - and motivate for - driving technical and challenging projects forward.

Responsibilities
Your responsibility will be the Powertrain Lubrication System for Power- and Drivetrain Systems. You will be working with our entire range of wind turbine product platforms, from the kW-class and up to ++MW.
Main activities under this responsibility will include:

• Specify and maintain function- and performance requirements for Powertrain Lubrication Systems
• Execute integrated product development of Powertrain Lubrication Systems and validate Powertrain Lubrication System function and performance in system test environments together and through external partners and suppliers or in wind turbines in the field
• Maintain and provide lifecycle support to exiting Powertrain Lubrication Systems. This include cost-out initiatives and product optimizations across the entire value chain
• Maintain product documentation and provide general business support to internal stakeholders such as Global Sourcing, Manufacturing and Service organizations

Qualifications

• Diploma- or Mater degree in Mechanical- or Marine Engineering
• Experienced (2-3 years) in the role as design engineer of Lubrication Systems and in the integration and function of its components, this including pumps, filters- and filter blocks, heat exchangers, sensors, pipes, hoses and connectors
• Good skills within thermodynamics
• Knowledge of control and regulation of integrated systems
• Basic knowledge about CAD-, PLM-, and PDM systems such as PRO-E, PDM-Link and SAP
• You are familiar with Six Sigma development tool and methodologies
• Excellent language skills (speaking and writing) in English required
• Experience within the field of wind turbines, automotive- or heavy industries preferred
• Basic knowledge about Stage Gate Model
