PhD position in 400G Fiber-Wireless Communications

The Technical University of Denmark has an open PhD position in the project “FIber-Wireless Integrated Networks for 5th Generation delivery” FIWIN5G. The FIWIN5G project is a Marie Curie Initial Training Network involving 10 academic institutions and 11 industrial partners. 15 PhD researchers will be trained within this project in different aspects of millimeter-wave signal generation and manipulation, with emphasis on 5G systems. A comprehensive training program will allow the researcher to gain knowledge in photonic sciences, millimeter-wave technologies and soft-skills, such as management and innovation. Project scope The objective of this project is to study advanced modulation formats for high-capacity 400G wireless links operating in the W- and Low-Terahertz bands (30-300GHz). The project includes an external stay at University Duisburg-Essen (Germany) to undertake experimental testing of different modulation formats at the W-band and Low-Terahertz. Qualifications The candidate must have a master's degree in engineering or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to the master's degree in engineering. A solid background of digital communications and signal processing is important, some knowledge of fiber optics an advantage. Good communication skills in written and spoken English is a must. Incorporation date is Fall 2015. Approval and Enrolment The scholarships for the PhD degree are subject to academic approval: only candidates with an above the average marks are accepted in the program.
