The Technical University of Denmark, Department of Biotechnology and Biomedicine (DTU Bioengineering), is looking for a skilled and enthusiastic lab technician, for employment in the Section for Protein Chemistry and Enzyme Technology. The position will include tasks within research and teaching. Typical research tasks are cloning, production and purification of recombinant enzymes and proteins from bacterial and yeast based systems as well as the characterization of proteins' molecular properties and enzymology. Experience with protein production and techniques for characterization of protein properties and techniques to measure enzyme activity and interactions of proteins with other molecules are essential parts of the position. General experience with chromatography analysis (HPLC, HPAEC, SEC) is an advantage.
Primary responsibilities
In collaboration with other technicians you will be responsible for various instruments (automated chromatography equipment, incubators, bioreactors, electrophoresis, PCR, ELISA reader, calorimeters (ITC and DSC), biosensing (such as SPR) equipment and other laboratory equipment), maintenance of laboratories, procurement of chemicals and instruction of project students and younger researchers. Another important part of the position is to support our teachers running the department's experimental courses and to help with the overall daily management, including purchasing of consumables in the Section.
Our expectations of you
You are a trained laboratory technician with good English skills in writing and speaking, a routine user of the Microsoft Office package, and have knowledge and experience with work and safety in a dynamic research environment with many international employees.
Salary and terms of employment
Salary and employment conditions is based on the OAO-S joint agreement and association agreement for office workers, laboratory technicians and IT staff (HK/Stat) signed with the Danish Ministry of Finance.
The position is full time, but a part-time employment can be negotiated. Start date: 1 September 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter.
