About the department Materials & Injection Moulding (Dept. 2509.01), is the expertise centre for plastic materials in Novo Nordisk. The team (approx. 10 employees) support the development of medical devices by giving specialist input to various areas within plastic materials - physical characterisation, robust materials selection, failure analysis, chemical characterisation, tribology, environmental assessment, biological evaluation etc. The team work closely with other colleagues in the Mechanical Engineering Support department and also work in close collaboration with the device project engineers from these fields. The position You will support Materials Experts in designing, coordinating, executing and reporting material studies. The activities include literature review, designing and planning experiments, execution and coordination of experiments, data analysis, drawing conclusions, and dissemination in reports and/or presentations. The areas of work will fall within one or more of the following areas: Scanning Electron Microscopy; Fractography and fracture mechanics; - Chemical resistance testing of thermoplastics (especially for environmental stress cracking resistance). A major part of the job regarding the above activities for a Materials Expert is developing documents, such as test protocols, test reports and presentations, as part of the planning and reporting of material studies. In this role you will review documents such as test plans and test reports, you will - if the opportunity arises - write reports based on raw data from tests and you will disseminate the knowledge gained from your work to the rest of the team. In addition you will solve ad hoc tasks as they arise. You will be an integrated part of the team on equal terms regarding working hours and as such you will attend department project planning meetings and be responsible for your own deliverables together with your appointed mentor. Some travel is expected, but will be agreed to with your manager. Internship Period: The internship position is a full-time position for 4-6 months. Start date: 1. September 2016 or earlier based on individual agreement Qualifications We are looking for a candidate that is able to work independently (after an introduction) in a dynamic, hands-on organisation. Ideal candidates will possess skills, or interest in, planning and execution of material studies with a sound scientific approach. Prior knowledge to at least one of the three main areas is a prerequisite, but in-depth experience is not mandatory. The position includes coordination tasks as well as dissemination tasks therefore excellent conversational skills and fluency in written and spoken English are important. You are a person with a strong personal drive and dedication. You have professional and personal ambitions that are reflected in your desire to take initiative. In addition, you bring a can-do attitude to your work – and meet others with a constructive attitude. Finally, you must have strong work ethic and willingness to take responsibility for your own learning. Students in their first or second year of their master studies.
