About the department
Cardiovascular Research is a new department in Global Drug Discovery, Novo Nordisk A/S. As part of Novo Nordisk’s new strategy within chronic diseases, this department has a focus towards target identification, validation and pre-clinical progression of new treatment options for atherosclerosis and chronic heart failure. Currently, the department consists of 18 employees and 5 PhD students/post docs. We develop, characterise and use in vitro assays, mode-of-action studies and animal models for early evaluation of drug candidates. Laboratory work is carried out by technical staff and scientists as well as outsourced as contract research.
The position
We are seeking a talented Research Scientist or Specialist to join our in vitro biology team. You will be part of a multidisciplinary project group identifying new treatment options for CVD. We seek an individual with expertise in in vitro cellular assays related to chronic heart failure. The job encompasses active engagement in innovation within early stage research that has potential to substantially impact future CVD treatment. The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing, validating and overseeing the in vitro profiling and mechanism of action understanding of molecules designed for new targets in CVD. The candidate is expected to use approximately 30% of the time in the laboratory. Furthermore, the candidate will take part in identifying new target opportunities as well as evaluating potential external opportunities from academia, biotech or pharma.
Qualifications
You hold a PhD and have experience in biological sciences with in-depth knowledge and proven scientific track-record in cardiovascular pathophysiology (mandatory). We seek an individual with expertise in in vitro cellular assays related to chronic heart failure using cells including primary cardiomyocytes, cardiac fibroblasts as well as cell lines. You should be experienced in developing, validating and troubleshooting in vitro assays with key functional readouts such hypertrophy, fibrosis, contractility and metabolism. Furthermore, a solid international scientific network as well as holding an international ph.d., post doc or work experience is an advantage. In addition to your scientific profile, you are a dedicated, open-minded, and innovative team player with good collaboration skills. You are organized and result oriented.
