DONG Energy is looking for a German-speaking analyst for the Forecasting department within the business unit Customers & Markets (C&M). Forecasting is responsible for forecasting consumption of gas and power in the markets where C&M is active with the core aim of optimising revenue and costs. We have interfaces with both the sales and trading departments within DONG Energy. Our value creation targets are ambitious and we strive to be a high performance team consisting of skilled and experienced analysts. Strong individual market insight combined with utilising knowledge synergies across markets and a joint aim to deliver excellent and robust forecasts are primary factors of what drive the department. You will be a part of a dynamic team counting five employees, based in our office in Virum near Copenhagen. You should expect occasional travelling in relation to your work. Areas of responsibility In Forecasting your primary responsibility will be forecasting for the markets in which we operate. Furthermore, your key duties will be to: communicate with German gas transmission and distribution grid operators, and occasionally with German gas customers produce short term forecast (day ahead – four days ahead) report forecast performance on a daily basis incl. participation in weekend surveillance duty (task shared by the team in turn) improve forecast quality by optimising models in neural networks or by use of other techniques manage and improve the current technical setup and streamlining processes follow up on realised costs and conduct analyses on ad hoc basis Your profile In order to communicate efficiently it’s paramount that you speak, read, and write German fluently in combination with very good English skills. Ideally, you hold a strong academic background and a masters in mathematics, statistics, engineering or similar and possess excellent analytical skills for working with complicated analytical issues. Furthermore you have strong interest in and understanding of technical tasks. You are good at working independently but you are also a team player who can work across the organisation. You have a systematic approach to your work and you are flexible and result-oriented. As a person you are energetic and you are responsible, structured, detail-oriented, careful, able to keep sense of perspective and meet deadlines. You are good at coordinating and following up. You may be recently graduated but professional experience, preferably within the energy sector, is a plus.
