Would you like to provide high-quality geotechnical support to offshore wind projects in Northern Europe? Join us and become a Geotechnical Engineer for large offshore wind projects. You will be part of the Geotechnical Engineering department which is responsible for a wide range of geotechnical activities related to the planning, development, design and construction of offshore wind farms. The department is part of Wind Power, which has over 1400 employees and is one of five business units in DONG Energy. DONG Energy is the world’s largest developer and operator of offshore wind power, and we use our unique knowledge in all phases of our wind turbine projects. For the last 20 years, we have developed and constructed the largest portfolio of offshore wind farms in Northern Europe, and are considering expanding our footprint to cover other parts of the world (e.g. projects in the USA). You may choose freely to be based either at one of our Danish offices in Gentofte in the Greater Copenhagen area or in Skærbæk near Fredericia or alternatively at our London office in the United Kingdom or our Hamburg office in Germany on local terms and conditions. However, you should expect some travelling in relation to your work. Your key duties will be to be responsible for developing in-house tools, using multiple software packages, capable of solving complex geotechnical problems related to foundation installation and detailed foundation design assist in the development of model scale and full scale foundation testing programs use purpose-built code or commercially available software for analysis and design of complex soil-structure interaction problems. provide high-quality geotechnical input to the design and installation of offshore foundations for our offshore wind projects prepare detailed reports and memos documenting geotechnical analyses and recommendations in close collaboration with the geotechnical design team. You will collaborate with the team responsible for preparing geotechnical design profiles to ensure that appropriate input parameters are derived for geotechnical analyses. This includes providing input and guidance on how to derive the required parameters (from in situ and laboratory testing) and to assist with technical review of advanced laboratory tests results. Your qualifications and core competences include that you hold a master's degree or a PhD degree in civil or geotechnical engineering or equivalent have computer programming experience with MatLab or LabVIEW have experience with scale model and full-scale testing programs, with an in depth knowledge of control systems and sensor requirements for such programs have excellent communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills and speak and write English fluently have a result-oriented approach to your work and that you show initiative. Furthermore, it will be considered advantageous if you have experience in preparing or reviewing geotechnical design profiles based on results of in situ and laboratory testing campaigns, as well as experience preparing detailed engineering reports and memos documenting geotechnical analyses. You should also have a solid understanding of geotechnical finite element or finite difference methods and some experience with commercial 2D and 3D FE/FD codes such as ABAQUS, FLAC, PLAXIS. You will have strong analytical skills for performing geotechnical design and be able to create excellent results through teamwork. You will thrive on working both independently and together with your colleagues in an international environment, working with colleagues at different levels and with various nationalities and cultural backgrounds.
