Do you have what it takes to work in a fast-paced trading environment with ambitions to be the best?    

We are strengthening our Gas Spot Trading team with a new Gas Trader. The gas trading desk at Centrica Energy Trading is expanding its business throughout Europe where we provide real time optimization, flexibility services and proprietary trading. Our constant market presence means that we are on top of market changes and can act fast 24/7, and consequently can provide clients with the market presence they need to ensure profit.   

You will join a gas trading team of 22 professionals placed in modern facilities that support our joint efforts.    We will be sure to support you in making a real impact, as you make the most of your talent.   

Your responsibilities will include: 

  • Grow and expand our spot market activities. 
  • Capture market opportunities based on positions and analysis of market conditions  
  • Actively daily trading on exchanges, auctions and OTC markets across Europe  
  • Optimize the value of our asset portfolio 
  • Develop and implement trading and hedging strategies for short term trading 
  • Maintain an ongoing dialogue with colleagues concerning transactions, prices etc.  
  • Build relationships with market participants. 

 The ideal candidate:  

  • Bachelor’s degree required - MSc in Finance, Mathematics or Economics preferred.  
  • Experience in physical gas markets on continental Europe – preferably Eastern Europe. 
  • Experience in algorithmic trading. 
  • Good It-skills: VBA, Excel, C++, Reuters, Bloomberg. 
  • Innovative mindset that questions status-quo. 
  • Have the ability to reason through logic and keep a cool head working in a hectic environment. 
  • Highly motivated, self-sufficient and enthusiastic. 
  • Good English skills, written and oral (preferably additional language skills).  
  • Work as a team player and on your own – the members of our team depend on each other.  
  • You are focused on details and have a result-orientated mindset.
