We have all gazed in wonderment or amazement at how beautiful some of our bridge structures are. How are talented designers are able to mix different materials, yet still ensure the strength of a structure. How, with their skill and expertise, the designers can make solid, often grey and cold materials, look magnificent and imposing, yet soft and in place. How they use their knowledge and expertise to design a structure that is in tune with the location, offer a practical use, but keep the passer by captivated by its curls, angles or the movement of its glistening stainless steel finish.

You see, our designers have been keeping people talking for over 80 years. They do this by using state of the art methods to produce a piece of bridge artwork that will keep people talking for decades. They link two locations so families and friends can see each other more often, they reduce your time to travel somewhere, they deliver a solution to a question that has been asked a thousand times before.

You have no doubt seen one of the many, many bridges we have designed across Scandinavia, all of which we are proud of. Maybe it was one of our suspension bridges at the Great Belt Link, the East Bridge, Denmark, the Höga Kusten Bridge, Sweden or the Little Belt Bridge, Denmark that holds fond memories for you, maybe one of the cable stayed bridges such as The Øresund Bridge linking Denmark and Sweden or the Farø Bridge which links Scandinavia with continental Europe that holds a place in your heart, or maybe the marine crossing Fehmarn Belt that joins Denmark and  Germany that you remember from your childhood holidays. It could also be one of our many moving / bascule bridges that captured your imagination, or the beauty of one of the numerous railway or highway bridges that enables you to travel you to your destination in a timely fashion that has caught your eye, but whichever one you remember fondly, so do we, so do our team of designers and engineers who put in incredible work to ensure that the end result was a structure worthy of having the name COWI associated with it.

You see, when we reminisce we realise that COWI has been involved in hundreds of bridge projects a cross Scandinavia,  some vast structures, some small, but all equally important, all carrying out a function to make our lives easier. But whilst looking back is full of wonderful memories of things we have achieved, we wish to look forward to the adventures yet to come. We want to ensure that passed successes are achieved in the future and that COWI remain at the forefront of bridge engineering.

Overview:

You will be based from our head office in Lyngby and work on a variety of interesting and challenging bridge structures spread across Scandinavia which will require cross boarder co-operation.  Many of the projects we are engaged upon are multidisciplinary and include highways and railway projects with bridges, tunnels, culverts, retaining wall, embankment, noise barriers, etc.

Our Requirements: knowledge, personal skills and experience required:

• You will hold a Bachelor or Master's degree in civil or structural engineering
• Minimum of 3 years' experience in bridge design or project management
• Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills in at least one Scandinavian language (Danish, Norwegian or Swedish)
• Capabilities and experience of BIM software / work is a significant advantage (TEKLA, Microstation, Revit, etc.)
• You will be adept at working within a team environment
