The University seeks to appoint an associate professor within the clinical significance of micro-environmental characteristics resulting from the innate host response during biofilm infections to the Department of Immunology and Microbiology to commence on 1 January 2020. The position is a 5 years, part-time (80%) position.

Job abstractJV_description
When considering applications for the position, the main emphasis will be placed on the applicant's ability to document a high level of original scientific work on an international level within the area of interaction between the host response with chronic infections with special emphasis on the development, diagnosis, and management of infectious bacterial biofilms. And how the infectious micro-environment creates tolerant bacterial biofilm and how to re-sensitize the bacterial biofilm by applying adjuvant hyperbaric oxygen. The applicant should have a wide experience both with human clinical research and experimental models within the field. Close collaboration with the University Hospital is required.

The associate professor’s responsibilities will primarily consist of:

• Research, including publication/academic dissemination
• Research-based teaching, including associated examination
• Presentation and guidance in online courses on biofilms
• Communication of research results to the public
• Research leadership, including guidance and supervision of researchers
• Obligation to share knowledge with the rest of society, including participation in public debate
• Academic assessments

Required qualifications
The successful applicant should be able to document:

• A record of original scientific research at the highest international level, including considerable contribution to the development of the subject
• Teaching qualifications and pedagogical competencies
• Research-based teaching
• The associate professor is also required to possess good interpersonal and communicative skills.

Terms of employment
Salary and other terms and conditions of appointment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant professional organisations.

The position is covered by the Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities 2013.
