Are you an expert in SPR-based analysis of small molecule low affinity interactions, and have a solid background in cellular pharmacology?

Then this could be exactly the opportunity you are looking for. With your scientific expertise, you will directly influence the continued build-up of SPR as a core competency in our department and take active part in the early biological characterisation and selection of future drug compounds.

 At the interplay between biophysics and biology

Your main focus will be to establish and run Biacore platform-based assays for analysis of small molecule binding and effect on protein-protein interactions for support of early hit ID / hit expansion activities. You will work closely with a group of highly skilled scientists and technicians in the department, who share your passion for the SPR technology. Taking advantage of your combination of technical biophysical expertise and biological knowledge, you will take part in cross-functional research projects and provide these with high quality SPR assays and data to select compounds and increase the biological understanding of target and/or compound function. On a project-need basis, you will also be establishing and running other binding-based or cellular assays.

 Your knowledge and experience

You hold a Ph.D. in biology, pharmacology, biochemistry or a related field, combined with preferably 5+ years of postdoctoral and/or pharma/biotech experience working with SPR-based assays, preferably on a Biacore platform. From this you have recent and strong expertise in:

• Hands-on programming and data analysis on Biacore 8K and/or T200
• Analysis of low affinity interactions (fragments/small molecules)
• Optimization and validation of assay parameters such as running buffer and regeneration conditions
• Protein handling and QC
• Combining SPR experiment setup with use of automated liquid handling equipment

Experience in other biophysical technologies and in analysis of antibodies is a plus, but is not a prerequisite. Your experience also includes in vitro pharmacological assays, and you see biophysics and biology as two disciplines which complement each other and together can provide critical insights into target/compound function. You are excited about the opportunity to take part in the continued build-up of the biophysical competencies within the In Vitro Biology department, and your SPR and biophysical interests spans both scientific and lab-based activities.

You will join a department with 18 skilled and dedicated scientists and lab technicians working with a broad range of in vitro and ex vivo assays/techniques for supporting projects across the R&D area.
