The Position

We are looking for a passionate Assistant Controller to head our accounting teams in Copenhagen, Denmark and London, UK. The right candidate will be responsible for the momondo and Cheapflights financials.

You will be based either in London in Copenhagen where we have a very international and diverse work culture with more than 35 nationalities working in an informal environment.

Responsibilities

As Assistant Controller, you will enjoy a role with opportunity for significant cross-functional involvement. As Momondo recently became part of the Booking Holdings Group under the KAYAK umbrella of brands you will have the opportunity to work in an international environment in a publicly listed company.  Reporting to the KAYAK Global Controller you will be part of a global finance team and a local team of six employees who manage the financial accounts for KAYAKs 6 brands in 40+ countries.

You must have a strong background within accounting regulations and experience and knowledge of Danish GAAP, IFRS, FRS 102 and US GAAP. The position is full-time, but as the workload may vary over the month, there is room for flexibility.

Your tasks encompass an exciting mix of financial, compliance and commercial aspects that provide the right candidate with good development opportunities in an ambitious growth business. You should also expect some travel – 30-45 days p/a.

Your responsibilities include:

• Leading the accounting teams in Copenhagen and London
• Handling the full spectrum of a financial accounting role e.g. AR, AP, GL
• Performing full set of accounts and ensuring timely closing of accounts and reporting to KAYAK
• Spearheading the implementation of a new general ledger and AP system
• Responsibility for timely monthly consolidated financial statements, payments, and cash-flow
• Reviewing and approving payment vouchers and journal entries
• Performing cash flow forecasting, budgeting and working closely with FP&A
• Developing and maintaining internal control and effective accounting system and policies according to KAYAK policies
• Ensuring that intercompany cost allocations and transfer pricing policy are aligned with KAYAK policy
• Cost tracking, monitoring and controls
• Establishing and maintaining systems for cost-sensitivity analysis and early-warning of cost-overruns
• Tax advice, e.g. VAT, and submitting tax returns (CIT, VAT, etc.)
• Preparing and handling statutory audit deadlines and submissions
• Communicating rules, guidelines and training to local office in relevant finance areas

Skills and background

You must be structured and analytical as well as having the ability to work in detail and handle different daily tasks under pressure. You are used to working independently and have an overall thorough understanding of accounting, being critical of numbers and systems.

You are focused, constructive and have a critical approach to your tasks, pushing to improve overall processes where necessary, while being positive, result-oriented and a helpful team player. Finally, the ability to communicate clearly and efficiently in a friendly, constructive tone – both internally and externally – is critical.

You should also:

• Be familiar with Danish and UK accounting regulations and practices
• Have experience with US GAAP, IFRS and SOX
• Have a minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience, i.e. Certified Accountant, Financial Controller or Chief Accountant (experience with an international organisation/publicly listed company is a plus)
• Be confident, reliable and accurate with numbers
• Have an open, flexible and service minded personality
• Have good MS office skills (Hyperion and Adaptive experience is a plus)
• Be fluent in English
• Hold a CPA or degree in accounting/finance
