The position is affiliated with an initiative funded by the Ministry of Food Agriculture and Fisheries with the overall aim to establish the scientific basis for predicting the effect of interventions of antimicrobial usage in pig herds on the occurrence of resistance in zoonotic pathogens.
Responsibilities and tasks
The research assistant will be responsible for following tasks in the project:
- Contacting pig producers that potential can be involved in the project
- Planning and executing collection of samples and other relevant information from pig farms, slaughterhouses and potentially other sites
- Supporting lab technicians in the management of the collected samples
- Extracting relevant data from existing databases
- Organizing collected data in suitable electronic database
- Performing descriptive analyses of collected data and support colleagues in advanced analysis of data and formulation of scientific papers.
In addition, the research assistant can expect to be involved ad hoc in other research projects.
Qualifications
Applicants should have a master's degree in engineering or equivalent.
The applicant must be able to work with high accuracy both practically and with documentation in all tasks ranging from collecting samples to organise the collected data into a database.
Previous involvement in large uncontrolled field studies including collection of samples in pig farms is weighted positively but is not a necessity.

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.
