READVERTISEMENT - Associate Professor with focus on robotic applications in the welfare domain

The SDU Robotics section at The Maersk Mc-Kinney Moller Institute at University of Southern Denmark (SDU) in Odense invites applications for a position as Associate Professor in robotics with a particular focus on robotic applications in the welfare domain. The starting date for the position is as soon as possible in 2019, and it will be agreed with the successful candidate.

The candidate is expected to:

• Document experience with the development of mobile robots and integrating solutions using ROS
• Document an interdisciplinary research record, covering topics as human-robot interaction or multimodal robot perception
• Demonstrate a detailed understanding of the welfare domain and the ability to create bridge to the robotics domain 

Furthermore, it will be an advantage to:

•  Have experience with fund raising on a national and international level
• Document skills relevant for project management and team leading
• Have experience with teaching and supervision of students on both bachelor and master level

The successful candidate is expected to develop and engage in a vigorous research program focusing on welfare robotics, collaborate with other faculty units on joint research projects, typically with hospitals or care centers as project partners, and to lead as well as supervise junior staff members.

Requirements for the position
Employment as an associate professor requires scientific qualifications at PhD level.

Applications will be assessed by an expert committee. The committee may request additional information, and if so, it is the responsibility of the applicant to provide the necessary material. Applicants will be informed of their assessment by the Faculty.
 
Shortlisting may be used. Shortlisted applicants will be assessed by an assessment panel.
 
As part of the overall assessment of the applicant’s qualifications, the applicant may be called for interview.

Conditions of employment
The successful applicant will be employed in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations.

Employment as an Associate Professor is a permanent position.
