Electrical Engineering > Power Plant Engineering > Plant Control Engineering

In Power Plant Engineering, we focus on product development as our main activity. We lead early scoping and execution of technology activities. All of this is built with our deep power system-, control- and SW knowledge and based on the understanding of the market and connection code development.

In Power Plant Engineering we control-, design the electrical infrastructure of-, model- and simulate the entire renewable hybrid power plant.

In Plant Control Engineering we are responsible for the development of the Vestas Hybrid Power Plant Controller which enables grid-code compliance for all Vestas Power Plants connected in power systems worldwide. The development activities in the department encompasses power system engineering, controls development, embedded and real-time software development, release management and product support to specialist and technicians in regional Vestas business units.

Responsibilities

As Lead Engineer, your main responsibility will be technical lead of various development projects of control solutions, tools and technologies for Vestas Hybrid Power Plant Controller. The responsibility will include:

• Scoping of projects in alliance with internal stakeholders
• Defining and securing the quality of requirements for the project
• Estimation and C-level task planning in JIRA
• Technical lead for local and remote teams on daily basis
• Enable and drive fact-based decision making for the project team
• Ensuring the quality of technical deliverables for the project on time

You will be working with these challenges:

• Defining new projects for new control platforms and tools for Hybrid Power Plant control
• Creating and reviewing requirement specifications and design abstractJV_descriptions
• Leading the technical execution of development projects
• Design and implementation of control solutions for Hybrid Power Plant control
• Verification of plant level performance by use of Hardware in the Loop test environment and site testing

Qualifications

• M.Sc.EE or B.Sc.EE. Most likely Software, Control or Electrical engineering
• Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience
• You have proficiency in software development in C++ and control systems /embedded systems
• You have a proven track record of specifying requirements and creating software implementation abstractJV_descriptions and verification reports
• Knowledge on SAFe, CMMI, Scrum and/or agile development processes
• Knowledge and desire to work with implementation and improving of processes for product and software development
• Experience Software tools, jira, sourcetree, git, etc.
• Experience in project scoping, planning, execution from similar lead engineer position
• Excellent people and motivation skills
• Good communication skills in English orally and written

It is an advantageous if you have experience with some of the following:

• Knowledge of Model Based Design and simulation model development (Matlab/Simulink or PSCAD)
• Knowledge in automated testing, continues integration and variant handling
• Verification of software functionality by use of Hardware in the Loop test environment
