Postdoctoral Molecular Biologist in Functional Genomics and Chip Technologies

The Department of Clinical Genetics at the Odense University Hospital, Odense, Denmark, invites applications for a postdoctoral position in the field of Functional Genomics and Chip Technologies. The position is settled in the DAWN-2020 project of the SDU-2020 Excellence Program and is vacant from 01st January 2015 or as soon as possible thereafter. The duration of the position is limited to 12 months. Within the DAWN-2020 project, the Department of Clinical Genetics, in collaboration with the Lundbeckfonden Center of Excellence NanoCAN, aims at developing smart nucleic acid-based nanodrugs for personalized cancer therapy with special focus on cancer stem cell elimination. One of the main focuses is to convert data from molecular profiling (miRNA, mRNA, lncRNA and next generation sequencing) of cancers into functional information about the genes and mutant variants to recover novel drug targets. The Department of Clinical Genetics holds advanced infrastructures for molecular profiling, including cutting-edge next generation sequencing equipment and bioinformatics support. Via the NanoCAN center there is access to an automated high-throughput screening facility and robotics for protein array spotting. The candidate will be required to take over responsibilities for setting up and functionally analyse cancer cell line panels with focus on breast cancer. Moreover, the position requires experience with setting up and applying microarray-based protein readouts, including experience in bioinformatics-based data analysis (user-level). Requirements Qualified candidates must have a PhD degree in biomedicine, biochemistry, biotechnology, cell biology, molecular biology, or from a related field at the time of employment. Research experience in functional genomics approaches in the cancer field, genetic engineering of isogenic cell line panels, and with protein-based array technologies is required.
