A postdoctoral position is available in the project “OliGram. Design and Gram Scale Enzymatic Synthesis of Human Milk Oligosaccharides”. The research is carried out as a collaboration between Department of Systems Biology at the Technical University of Denmark, Department of Plant and Environmental Sciences at the University of Copenhagen, Department of Chemistry and Bioscienceat Aalborg University and Arla Foods Ingredients Group P/S. Responsibilities and tasks Discovery of carbohydrate active enzymes for synthesis of human milk oligosaccharides in transglycosylation reactions. This involves database mining and microbial library screening, production and characterization of recombinant enzymes and development of enzyme-catalysed oligosaccharide synthesis reactions and product characterisation. Qualifications •Candidates should have a PhD degree or equivalent Furthermore the successful candidates should have •A solid background in carbohydrate active enzymes •Experience in glycan chemistry including oligosaccharide purification and analysis •Experience in recombinant enzyme production and characterization •Documented scientific excellence including publication of high quality research It would be advantageous, but not essential for the candidate to have knowledge or experience with the following •Oligosaccharide purification and characterization •Protein-carbohydrate interactions •Protein crystallography and molecular modelling We offer We offer an interesting and challenging job in an international environment focusing on education, research, public-sector consultancy and innovation, which contribute to enhancing the economy and improving social welfare.
