PhD scholarship in the field of Indoor Environment Research

The Department of Civil Engineering invites applications for a 3-year PhD scholarship in the field of indoor environment research, starting from October 1, 2018. 

The aim of the project is to characterise the indoor environment and occupant well-being, health and productivity in a wide range of office buildings located in Denmark and in Greenland. Furthermore. The project aims to build up a comprehensive database containing building and occupant information. This database is supposed to provide the core of a future benchmarking tool to evaluate building and workplace performance and estimate the potential value gain of improving the indoor environment.

Activities in the project include experimental design, use of measurement instrumentation and questionnaires, statistical analysis, and management and coordination of groups of students who are expected to take part in the project.

In addition to in-depth knowledge of the indoor environment, the candidate should know typical research methods applied in the field. Furthermore, as communication with a large number of stakeholders is an important part of the project, the candidate should demonstrate knowledge of interdisciplinary and creative work in regards to both building design, communication as well as visual/graphic design. 

The successful candidate will join an ambitious international research team with members from the Technical University of Denmark and potentially from other Danish research institutions.

Qualifications
Candidates should have a master's degree in engineering or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to a master's degree in civil engineering with focus on indoor environment, e.g. MSc. Architectural Engineering or MSc. Civil Engineering, with specialisation in indoor climate and energy design.

Candidates should be highly motivated, eager to seek and share knowledge, able to work independently in a dynamic group environment, and should be confident in both written and spoken Danish and English. The applicant should strive towards scientific excellence, be ambitious and hard working.

Salary and appointment terms
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union. The period of employment is 3 years.
