DTU Fotonik works with all areas of photonic engineering and the Department is now seeking to employ a PhD student to do research within new light sources. The work will be carried out within the Light Sources and Industrial Sensor research section.
Responsibilities and tasks
The position is aimed at expanding our competences in new light sources. Acknowledging photonics as a key enabling technology, the research activities originates around modelling and development of new light source architectures. The research section aims for a top 3 position among the European research groups in diode lasers and LEDs. The research will be conducted in close collaboration with researchers at international universities. It is important that the applicant shows that he/she can contribute to the development of new light sources and preference will be given to candidates that can strengthen the following areas:
- Compact diode lasers based on nonlinear optical effects
- LED architectures for energy and lighting applications (green technologies)
- Nanotechnologies for LEDs and Biophotonics
- Advanced diode laser based systems for biophotonic imaging
- Nonlinear MID-IR sensing for scientific and industrial applications
Qualifications
Candidates should have a MSc degree in engineering/Physics or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to the MSc degree in engineering/Physics.

The scholarships for the PhD degree are subject to academic approval, and the candidates will be enrolled in one of the general degree programmes of DTU. Salary and appointment terms
