GIS Specialist and Data Manager for offshore wind farm projects

Would you like to apply your GIS expertise for planning, constructing and operating offshore wind farm? Join us and become GIS Specialist in the Wind Power GIS team which is responsible for GIS data collection, analysis, visualisation and documentation throughout the lifetime of a wind farm. We are also responsible for setting the standard for GIS data quality and aim to continuously develop through interaction with our customers The GIS team is part of Wind Power which has 1400 employees and is one of four business units in DONG Energy. Wind Power is the world’s largest developer and operator of offshore wind power, and we use our unique knowledge in all phases of our wind turbine projects. During the last 20 years, we have developed and constructed the largest portfolio of offshore wind farms in Northern Europe. You will be based in our office in Gentofte in the Greater Copenhagen area and occasional trips to all our locations and wind farms should be expected. Areas of responsibility You are primarily responsible for our SDE database and the continued development of the quality and structure of our data. You are also responsible for the GIS work needed for our wind farms in operation and any support needed during this phase. We use the standard ESRI GIS platform, including ArcMap, ArcCatalog, ArcGlobe, ArcServer, etc. Furthermore, your key duties will be to: •manage our SDE database and develop the structure and quality of the data in cooperation with the rest of the team and our customers •ensure that all spatial data collected on our planning and construction projects are quality checked, structured and secured in a geodatabase •take responsibility for the daily GIS work and data management in relation to our wind farm projects in the operation phase, including information and data collection, spatial analysis of data, and production of documentation such as maps, spread sheets and data files •perform analysis on all kinds of geographical data sets. Your profile You have a master's degree or equivalent within a relevant discipline, eg geography, geology or engineering, combined with an appropriate level of GIS experience, perhaps from a position within the offshore industry, ships or similar. Knowledge of SDE databases, geographical coordinates system and prior experience in working with advanced datasets, including 3D GIS, is advantageous. In addition, you have prior experience in using GIS for a variety of purposes, from conducting analysis to loading data and using web based GIS solutions. It is also essential that you have an understanding of the importance of metadata, quality control and structuring when working with extensive datasets. You speak and write English fluently and have excellent communication skills as your position involves daily contact with many business partners, including various professional groups. It is essential that you have an academic approach to your work and are enthusiastic about working with GIS and geo-data. You are prepared to share your knowledge and expertise with your colleagues.
