About the department The department, Diabetes Upstream and Downstream Development, is anchored in CMC Supply in Research & Development. The department is responsible for process development of new drug substance candidates for the entire diabetes development portfolio at Novo Nordisk. This includes microbial cultivation, recovery and purification. We do so in close collaboration with the research unit as well as the pilot facilities manufacturing the proteins used for toxicological and clinical trials. The job is located in Bagsværd. Our team focuses on developing capture steps as well as the final purification processes for both recombinant proteins and synthetic peptides. The job It will be your responsibility to plan laboratory experiments within protein and peptide purification using e.g. chromatography on the Äkta/unicorn platform as well as unit operations as precipitations, ultra-/diafiltrations, enzymatic cleavage etc. The work is evaluated and reported in electronic laboratory notebooks. Systematic evaluation of process data obtained from laboratory work as well as from pilot facilities is a natural part of the job. The progress of the process development work will be discussed in the project groups which you will be part of. In addition, process support to our pilot facilities is an integrated part of the job. The first assignment in this job includes developing the recovery part of purifying processes i.e. the first chromatographic step, precipitations and enzymatic cleavage. Qualifications You hold a PhD or master degree as chemical engineer, pharmacist, cand.scient or similar. Your background is within protein and peptide chemistry preferably with some practical experience with physico-chemical aspects such as precipitation, crystallisation and/or aggregation. Practical knowledge of preparative peptide and protein purification, especially chromatography (e.g. RP, IEC, HIC) is an advantage as is the understanding of industrial approaches. Furthermore, an innovative mind set being able to convert theory to practical solutions is expected from the candidate as well as excellent communication skills, a positive attitude and the ability to be both a team player and independently drive complicated development projects forward.
