About the department Safety Surveillance is a high-performing scientific and dynamic department with quality, success and fun as important words in our daily working life. Due to the increasing focus on drug safety (from internal stakeholders, health authorities, patients etc.), we continuously strive to improve our processes and skills to ensure we can act as a team and as expert collaborators. We are responsible for monitoring the safety profiles of Novo Nordisk products globally. This includes chairing the cross-functional Safety Committees performing the integrated safety evaluation and overall risk management for investigational compounds and marketed products. Close collaboration with other functional areas in Novo Nordisk, especially the clinical development team and the regulatory affairs team is part of our daily job. The job As a Director for the Safety Surveillance Insulin & Devices department you will be leading a team of 18 dedicated specialists and professionals with medical and life science background. There is a Manager with responsibility for 6 team members within the department so the leadership role includes both direct people management and the ability to lead through others. The insulin portfolio includes products in early development, a product going into the regulatory submission phase in 2015, the Tresiba® Cardiovascular Outcomes Trial and device vigilance. As a Director you must ensure that the clinical and regulatory strategy for the portfolio is supported by the team. This means that building relationships with important stakeholders, and coaching and developing the people in the team is crucial for success. In addition, you will be part of the Surveillance Management team and are expected to contribute to the continuous development of the area. Qualifications You have a M.D., Ph.D, or PharmD degree, +5 years hands-on experience in drug development, pharmacovigilance and life cycle management. You have a talent for people management, have previous management experience, and you are comfortable working in cross functional, multi-national teams of highly skilled scientific staff. You have authority, but at the same time you are also a team player who is able to engage and motivate people. You have a strong drive, are flexible, have excellent communication and coaching skills, and are interested in building relationships with stakeholders.
