Do you like working on the intersection between biology and data, and apply cutting edge omics analyses in drug discovery? Then this job might be right for you. We are looking for a bioinformatician with excellent knowledge of biology to join our growing team of Bioinformatics specialists supporting drug discovery and development in Novo Nordisk.

 

About the department

The Department of Bioinformatics and Data Mining combines strong computational skills with biological insights through the integrative analysis of internal and external biomedical data. Our analytical expertise spans a wide range of areas, from sequence analysis, many different omics, pathway analysis, to text-mining. We contribute to all aspects of pre-clinical research projects at Novo Nordisk, where we act as bioinformatics and data analysis experts and participate in external collaborations with academic and biotech partners. Our work results in real impacts on new medicines for highly important diseases of unmet medical needs.

 

The position

Your main responsibility will be to work closely with our scientists in Global Drug Discovery & Global Research Technology, adding value to pre-clinical drug discovery projects through integrative analyses of diverse datasets (e.g. RNA-seq, proteomics, and disease genetics). As such you will identify high value opportunities for applying computational biology methods to develop the next generation of medicine for our patients. You are expected to be comfortable working in a dynamic, fast changing environment, and be able to communicate complex informatics analyses and results to scientists from diverse backgrounds.

 

Qualifications

• PhD in bioinformatics / computational science / biological sciences or equivalent research experience
• Knowledge of biological mechanisms and application of computational biology methods (preferably in the pharmaceutical industry)
• Experience with common bioinformatics programming languages (e.g. Python, R, Bash) as well as package, dependency and environment management tools
• Demonstrated skills in the analysis of multiple large scale human omics datasets such transcriptomics and proteomics
• Ability and strong drive to solve complex problems individually and in a team, with minimal supervision
• Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to respond to shifting priorities in a dynamic setting
• Ability to communicate proficiently with non-experts, both verbally and non-verbally
