An Assistant Professor position is vacant at the Maersk Mc-Kinney Moller Institute, University of Southern Denmark located in Odense. The candidate will be part of the Cognitive and Applied Robotics Group (CARO group) and is expected to participate in activities of the group including current and future research projects. The CARO group is specialized in robot solutions involving sensorial processing, mathematical modeling, learning and simulation targeted at advanced robot systems, for welfare robotics but also other application domains. The aim of the group is to solve challenging research problems from real applications and to participate in implementing the achieved results into real solutions with end-users. The group is involved in a variety of national and European projects. We expect the candidate to have documented expertise in • the area of Welfare Robotics • Computer Vision and Robotics • Application of Simulation • Machine Learning • Strong software development skills (C++). As many of the Welfare Robotics activities exploit our Care-o-bot, it would be desirable if the applicant has some experience with it. It is important that the candidate is able to successfully act within the CARO group, which requires him/her • to communicate and collaborate with our experts in the further development of our robotic and vision software • to be deeply involved in our regular coordination and joint evolvement of research and project activities • to co-ordinate activities in larger research projects The candidate will be involved in teaching courses on our BSc and MSc Program in Robot Systems Engineering enrolling approximately 80 students per year and to supervise BSc, MSc and PhD theses.
