3 positions for project management and funding support

The Department of Plant and Environmental Sciences, Faculty of SCIENCE at the University of Copenhagen seeks three employees to perform funding support and project management.

Starting date position 1: 1 January 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter.
Starting date position 2 and 3: 1 December 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter.

All three positions are full-time (37 hours weekly working hours).

About us
The Faculty of Science is the country's largest science and technology research and education institution with 4,400 employees and 9,000 bachelor and master's students in 12 departments. The Department of Plant and Environmental Sciences has approx. 550 employees with research and teaching focusing on plants, microorganisms, animals and the environment as a basis for sustainable production of food and other biological products. The positions are placed in the department's administration, which consists of approx. 35 employees divided into 7 teams: Economy, HR, Education, Service, Strategy & Communications, Secretaries and Funding & Innovation Support. Tasks
Project management: As project manager you will support a scientific coordinator with the administration of one or several research project(s). You will be responsible for the daily contact with international project partners, stakeholders and grant-givers, which can be both public and private entities, such as the European Commission, Innovation Fund Denmark etc. You will monitor the progress of the project and control all technical and financial reporting, while being responsible for organising meetings / conferences / seminars, including preparing material, agenda, minutes and planning and facilitating exercises. Additionally, you may be responsible for outreach activities such as website, SoMe etc.

Funding support: You should provide support to researchers seeking external funding for research and innovation – this entails giving advice on different grant-givers and their requirements, preparing and qualifying budgets, and giving feedback on applications. At the same time, it is important that you can assist in building new collaborations with the academic community, business sector and public sector.

Ad Hoc: You are furthermore expected to take part in department-related tasks when needed. It could, for example, be providing management assistance or servicing committees. We value a joint responsibility of the task portfolio in the administration. Depending on your skills, you may also be given other tasks beyond the specific tasks related to these positions.

The job requires hard work and flexibility as challenges are varied and the pace is high. It is necessary that you are proactive and can work independently. International travel should be expected.

Qualifications
You must have a master’s degree and proven experience/qualifications in:

• Structured and systematic management of research projects
• Organization of meetings and conferences etc. and designing and facilitating processes
• Collaboration with and support of academics

It will be an advantage, if you have experience in:

• Funding support - knowledge of major sources of funding, writing funding applications, experience with budgeting, and building collaborative partnerships
• Website development and social media platforms
• Organizational understanding of the university and knowledge of the department's subject areas

Terms of employment
Employment is according to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the State (AC) and is classified according to qualifications as either academic officer (in Danish AC-Fuldmægtig) or senior advisor (in Danish specialkonsulent) with the possibility to negotiate a salary supplement based on prior experiences and qualifications.

Employment periods:

Position 1: 1. January 2019 (time unlimited)
Position 2: 1 December 2018 – 30 April 2020
Position 3: 1 December 2018 – 31 August 2020
