In Global Development, we are responsible for managing clinical drug development worldwide from early development phases to market approval and life cycle management. We ensure medical and scientific documentation for clinical submissions to authorities while ensuring that the processes live up to global standards, regulations and business ethics. We work in Global Project teams, with focus on delivering viable products that make a difference to patients and ultimately benefit society.

 

About the department

Medical & Science, Insulin & Devices is part of Global Development and responsible for the preparation of clinical development strategies. We collaborate with the Drug Discovery area bringing new drug candidates into early clinical development and we secure medical input during all phases of clinical development until launch. Currently we have focus on implementing digital tools providing improved outcomes and benefits for patients in our clinical trials. We collaborate with our commercial organisation on life cycle management activities including generation of real world evidence. In addition, the department is responsible for medical input to cross-functional activities related to device strategies and all medical related activities within the device area.

We work in a project-centric organisation in cross-functional teams. Our key external stakeholders are the scientific community and medical experts, regulatory authorities and market access institutions.

 

The position

As Vice President you will be responsible for providing leadership and direction to the Insulin & Devices area. As part of the management team, you will contribute significantly to the clinical development of all projects within the area and to the clinical development strategy. You will be responsible for timely deliverables from the area in accordance with project milestones and in line with the overall Novo Nordisk drug and device project portfolio priority.

We expect you to be an active participant in the respective meeting fora, ensuring alignment of better practices and the future development within the area and in Global Development in general.

The Vice President will be reporting to the Corporate Project Vice President of Insulin & Devices and have 6 direct reports including 3 Senior Directors and 28 indirect reports.

Some degree of travel should be expected.

 

Qualifications

You have an M.D. degree and a strong clinical background with minimum 10 years of experience. Clinical knowledge in relevant disease areas is considered a plus. We expect you to have experience from the pharmaceutical industry and a strong track-record with people management within a knowledge-intensive organisation. 

You have solid leadership and coaching skills, a positive personality, constructive team approach and willingness to manage a diverse group in a project centric organisation. You possess an innovative mind-set and the ability to drive change. 

Due to the high degree of interaction with external key opinion leaders, commercial partners and health care authorities, we expect you to be a strong communicator, have highly developed social skills and high professional standards.
