We are currently looking to recruit a System Technical Lead Engineer for our Powertrain team in Aarhus, Denmark. Technology & Service Solutions/ Nacelle, Power & Handling/Powertrain /Drivetrain/DK Vestas Technology & Service Solutions (TSS) is responsible for developing, verifying and industrializing wind turbines and related service products. It is here that we lay Vestas' technical- and technological foundation for staying the global leader in wind energy by continuously reducing the Cost of Energy. The Powertrain department in TSS currently consists of around 55 highly skilled employees, primarily situated in Denmark and in Germany. The department is accountable for the Powertrain System converting the mechanical energy from the wind turbine rotor into electrical energy. The Powertrain System consists of main components such as the gearbox, generator, main shaft bearings, lubrication system and the auxiliary components. We have an immediate opening for a Technical Lead Engineer for the development and maintenance of Powertrain Systems for Vestas' wind turbine platforms. Activities hereunder will involve all facets of product development; from scope definition in collaboration with Product level lead, to specification of concepts and requirements and to final validation in the field. Many of the activities in between will be anchored at external partners such as suppliers or consultancy networks, and this aspect requires a candidate who, besides strong technical competences, also holds good communication skills, a commercial mindset, and not least - a distinct ability to drive technical and challenging projects forward. Responsibilities Your responsibility will be Powertrain Systems for wind turbines. Your main responsibility will be centered on one of our newer product platforms, but the position will also require your engagement across our entire range of wind turbines, from the smaller kW-class and up to the multi-MW products. Main activities under this responsibility will include: Specification and maintenance of function-/and performance requirements for Powertrain Systems. Execution of integrated product development of Powertrain Systems together with component responsible engineers. Validation of Powertrain System function-/and performance in test environments or in wind turbines in the field. Support and review component level- and technology development activities, and lead the integration of new components and new technologies into the Powertrain System and the wind turbine Products. Maintain-/and provide life-cycle support to existing Powertrain Systems. This for example includes defining- and executing continuous improvement- and cost-out initiatives. Provide technical support to Product Management and to our Sales Business Units, for example in technical due diligence meetings, and in the technical assesment of non-standard product requests. Create and maintain Powertrain System documentation. Provide general Business Support to stakeholders such as Global Sourcing, Manufacturing and the Service organization. Qualifications Diploma-/or Master degree in Mechanical- or Electro-Mechanical Engineering. Experienced (min. 5-8 years) in the role as System Engineer for Power-/Drivetrain Systems. Strong skills within mechanical system design and in system kinematics. Knowledge and experience within validation and verification of systems and components.
